BABA RAMDEV
Baba Ramdev has arrived. He seems to be in a hurry. He is all set . Therefore I jump to him with the idea of taking others later.
For the past many years Baba Ramdev is busy teaching yoga very much in the line of INDIAN tradition, recognized and followed world wide. He has traveled almost every nook and corner of the country and mobilised a huge following of yoga practitioners, who praise him profusely for his contribution to make yoga a movement and a way of life. He made his presence felt wherever he went. Astha channel enabled him to reach if not every, almost every 3rd. or 4th. household of the country. He has proved himself much more advanced than any body else in using electronic media for campaigning. He has huge funds at his disposal, which are his honest earning. He has to his credit a huge empire in the name of Patanjali yoga vidyapeeth near Haridwar.
With this background Baba Ramdev is there on Astha channel everyday. VERY CONFIDENT, VERY VIGOROUS,VERY CONVINCING. He has woven a charisma to do the impossible. He uses the rhetoric and eloquence more powerful than Lalu Yadav. He seems to be very clear about what he wants to do. He is one man authority of his plan. Who knows what wants to do. He may be able to do the unexpected.
But...But.. power equations may go against him in all probability.
RAHUL GANDHI
On this date, Rahul Gandhi is the protagonist figure of congress party. He is working hard to project himself as the most suitable person to become the prime minister of the second biggest democracy,THAT INDIA IS. He is moving round the country and meeting all shades of people. The people of the country have started taking him seriously. He is leaving no stone unturned to become true son of the soil.
He belongs to a lineage of international recognition. He is suave. He bears an honest visage. He is not in a hurry to jump on the job. Mrs. Sonia Gandhi gave prime minister ship to Dr. Manmohan Singh on a platter.
Still he has to go a long way. Congress at his back has a mixed history of success and failures. Actually congress is a platform where all kind of people come and play their role. There are many aaya rams and gaya rams around. So his journey to prime ministership is replete with challenges.
PROMINENT PERSONS ASPIRING TO BECOME PM
It is too early to say who will be the next p.m. after Dr Manmohan singh. Whether Dr. Singh will be offered a second stint or some body else will be a most agreeable candidate of u.p. a., can not be affirmed with certainty. It can be any if not Rahul Gandhi, who is called yuvraj in Congress circles. It can be P.CHIDAMBARAM, who is the fittest material justifying the dignity of the position or it can be somebody else U. P. A.or N.D.A. allies agree upon.
Even after having a cursory glance on the present political activities and news appearing in the media, the names again and again talked about for prime ministerial position are:--
1. MR. RAHUL GANDHI .............. (CONG)
2. MS.MAYAWATI ..............(B.S. P.)
3. SRI L. K. ADVANI JI. ..............(B.J.P.)
4. MR, NARENDRA MODI ..............(B.J.P.)
5. SWAMI RAMDEV'S CANDIDATE
6. WHOM DESTINY CALLS

CONSENSUS CANDIDATES
H. D. DEVEGOWDA, I. K. GUJRAL AND DR. MANMOHAN SINGH became prime minister as consensus candidates. They might not have ever thought that one day they will become prime ministers of a great nation, the world's second biggest democracy. This happened due to divided mandate as no body in the respective times ,enjoyed the acceptance among the people, of the level of pt. Jawahar lal Nehru, or mrs. Indra Gandhi or Rajiv Gandhi.
This may happen again. None of the present personalities aspiring to become the prime minister seems to be strong enough to sway the public mood in their favor. No party seems to be going to contest the elections on its own without making poll adjustments with other parties.
Whenever a party, particularly the Congress made poll adjustments with regional parties, its political base narrowed down and image got tarnished. Had they gone to contest elections on their own, they may not have won majority in that particular election, but in the following elections they certainly would have done better. In my opinion this is true for all the times.

General preview of Indian political horizon
These are the times when every body has to prove one's worth. Electorate has been a winess to a number of elections and has become much more mature. Still some more maturity is expected of the electorate and much more understanding from politicians. Casteism, regionalism, nepotism, fanaticism etc. are bane of our polity even today. Observation puts it very clear that no body, no body at all is concerned to do away these maladies. It seems there is going to be no drastic change in the near future. Caste, religion, region and bhai bhatijawad will keep on guiding or misguiding.
Today no body enjoys the stature of our erstwhile leaders who gave directions to their times and were a force to be reckoned with internationally.
Again time will tell who proves himself/herself worth the name.

NAMES AFLOAT IN THE RACE OF P.M.
In this blog our effort will focus objectively, without any subjective bias,on the actions of personalities vying with each other and positioning themselves in the service of nation as a prime minister.
At present there are few names soaring high, and being propagated for the position of prime minister of next lok sabha
